Pierre Valentin, Constantine Cannon LLP

Pierre Valentin is the partner heading the art and cultural property law group, which he founded in 2012. Prior to joining Constantine Cannon LLP, Pierre was a partner of Withers LLP where he started Withers’ Art and Cultural Assets Group in 2003. He previously served as Associate General Counsel and Senior Director of Sotheby's Europe.

Pierre has over 20 years’ experience advising art collectors, art galleries, art dealers, auction houses, artists, private banks, family offices, insurance companies and art investment funds.

Pierre is a trustee of the Artist’s Collecting Society. He was formerly a trustee, and then chair of the board of World Monuments Fund Britain.

Pierre is a qualified CEDR mediator and accredited mediator to the World Intellectual Property Office in Geneva. Pierre is both founder and board member of the Professional Advisors to the International Art Market (PAIAM), and the leader of PAIAM’s Brexit Committee. He lectures at the Sotheby’s Institute and at Christie’s Education. Recently, he has also lectured at the University of Milano-Bicocca (Italy) and at ESA Business School in Beirut, Lebanon. Pierre is fluent in French, Italian and Spanish.
